How often should your CEO post on LinkedIn?

Field notes on the ideal LI posting cadence in May 2026

I take a lot of calls every month with Heads of Marketing who want to get their CEO posting on LinkedIn. By far, one of the most common questions is around posting cadence.

There’s a bunch of conflicting advice out here, much of which comes from ‘personal brand’ gurus too far removed from the actual game to see what really works.

I’ll keep this short and sweet for you.

Ideal posting cadence: as often as you can, without a meaningful decrease in quality.

There is no downside in posting more often, given the content is genuinely GREAT. Reality is, there is a point for every team where they become stretched too thin and quality degrades. You should not push past this, as it will impact every post you put out.

For most B2B tech CEOs with the right content infra in place, the ‘sweet spot’ cadence is going to be 3-5x per week.

Less than that, and you aren’t taking enough shots on goal.

More than that, and you risk burning yourself out (even with a content team). You can get to 7-10x per week, but in my experience, better to nail 3-5x per week.

This is especially true as LinkedIn is saturated with half-baked AI slop. You cannot afford to post ‘OK’ content. It will flop, and you will wonder why ‘LinkedIn doesn’t work’ 90 days from now.

If you’d like to scale beyond that, but the creative resources into standing up net new accounts (i.e., getting your CTO, CMO, etc. posting — I call this a Content Ecosystem).

But if you're looking to launch a LinkedIn motion, start simple. Commit to 3x great posts per week, rooted in an actual content strategy, then scale to 5x, and then multiple accounts.

Hope this helps.

Here’s my favorite marketing and business content I bookmarked this week.

  • Still haven’t read or listened to much business stuff, if I’m being real. My entire podcast rotation has been overtaken by The Rest is History. I’m 100% OK with that. I just finished their mini-series on the rise of the Samurai.
